On Thursday, June 10, the Fox Valley Genealogical Society will present “The Standard of Genealogical Proof: Put the Power of GPS to Work!” With Alice Hoyt Veen.

The webinar will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. online. Register at ilfvgs.org/education/programs/.

Producing a reliable, high-quality genealogy for your family requires thought and thoroughness during the research process.

Testing your work against recognized standards helps you achieve your goals. This introduction to the standard of genealogical proof examines the development of modern standards, their importance to all genealogists, and how anyone, regardless of their level of experience, can effectively apply these common sense standards and techniques to their family project.

Alice Hoyt Veen is the owner of Prairie Roots Research, which aims to foster a better understanding of the past by researching and rebuilding forgotten lives; to rediscover and share ancestral wisdom and experiences with today’s generation and generations to come. She is a certified genealogist, professional researcher and genealogy educator who shares her knowledge and expertise through oral writing and speaking. She is a director of the BCG Education Fund, a charitable trust that advances the educational goals of the Genealogical Certification Board. She has spoken at national, regional and state conferences, as well as for many organizations in Iowa.

Meetings are free but you must register in advance. Visit ilfvgs.org for registration details.
