Gardeners flock to the Oakland County Farmers Market in Waterford | New

Business was booming Thursday at the Oakland County Farmers Market in Waterford. After all, it’s that time of year.

The Market, a long-standing staple in Oakland County, is a gardener’s dream with a wide selection of perennials, plus reasonably priced annuals, pots and hanging baskets. .

Growers can answer questions to guide new and experienced gardeners.

This season, the market has spring Sunday flower markets – with annuals, perennials and vegetable starters – on May 30 and June 6 from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Besides flowers, fresh seasonal produce and handicrafts are also available. Vendors present their products through indoor and outdoor stands.

The Red Wood Grill offers barbecue dishes on site. Nutrition and health programs are hosted by the Michigan State University Extension and Master Gardeners, as well as the Oakland Conservation District and the Oakland County Health Division.

Free Saturday morning yoga sessions will also be offered at 9:30 a.m. on June 5, July 3, August 7 and September 4. Thursday lunchtime yoga sessions will be at 12:00 noon on June 17, July 15, August 19, and Sept. 16. Free yoga mats are available for the first 10 participants.

The 45-minute session will take place on the grassy area west of the market building.

The Oakland County Farmers Market at 2350 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
