The Caribbean Genealogy Library (CGL) will be hosting a virtual workshop highlighting the St. Thomas Chart Collection at 2:00 pm on Sunday July 18th. It is titled “Conducting Research with the St. Thomas Graphics Collection”.

This is a small collection of prints from the 1980s to early 2000s. The printed materials, which are part of the CGL on St. Thomas, include a wide variety of funeral booklets, trade publications, program booklets events, government reports, maps, posters, brochures, marketing materials and forms from the late 20th century. Records include original photographs, compound layouts, proofs, original illustrations, correspondence, and transaction files.

These resources uniquely support both family history documentation and research for local history, education, and scholarship.

Workshop facilitator Rob Upson will provide an overview of the collection’s online site. It will show the extent of the digitized material, guide participants through browsing the archives and demonstrate how to use the finding aids. Anyone interested in using the St. Thomas Graphics Collection for family or historical research should attend.

The event will be the third in a series of the CFVI / NEH grant-funded project to digitize parts of the collection for online viewing. Project grant funding also supported the development of online research tools to enable researchers to use materials in the St. Thomas Graphics Collection more effectively.
