Lavina At the age of 96, from Provo, Utah passed away on September 20, 2021. Lavina was born on October 18, 1924 in Pikeville (Nahunta), North Carolina, to William Walter Harper and Alma Ishmael Aycock. She attended East North Carolina Teacher’s College where she received her BA in Home Economics and Social Sciences. She taught high school in North Carolina and the Granite School District in Utah for 16 years. She received her MA in Family Life from Utah State University and taught Family Life at Church College of Hawaii in Laie, Hawaii for over 25 years. She served a

mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines.

Lavina was cherished by everyone who knew her (especially her nieces and nephews and their spouses). She has lived a long and fulfilling life as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has lived her life in the service of others. She loved to travel. The family and many visitors to her home enjoyed hearing about her travels around the world to India, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the Polynesian Islands, Canada, South America, Mexico and many more. others.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother William Walter Harper Jr. and sisters Neva H. Smith, Wilma H. ​​Hirschmann, Vivian H. Pope, nephew Roger W. Smith and nieces Shirley S. Olson and Wanda S. Wood. Lavina is survived by her sister Lettie H. Willmore. She is also survived by her devoted nephews and nieces: Steven G. Smith, Wilma S. Fullmer, Pamela S. Werner, Wendell R. Smith, Becky S. Johnson, Barbara S. Qadri, David M. Smith, Bryan D. Smith, Eric Hirschmann, Paula H. Carter, Clive Arden Pope, ViAnn P. Prestwich, Cole Pope, Donna Pope, Clark Pope, Verl Pope, Ryle Pope, Ron Willmore, Reed Willmore, Ryan Willmore, Rhett Willmore, Regan Willmore, Rachel Willmore, and Ruth Willmore.

Special thanks to her niece, Wilma S. Fullmer, who cared for her with so much love in the last years of her life. Thanks also to his nephew Eric Hirschmann and his wife Karna, his beloved grandnephew Connor Sugrue, his nephew Steven Smith and his nurses Sarah Vaitohi and Donna Holt.

Funeral services will be held on September 29, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3511 N 180 E, Provo, Utah. A visitation will precede the funeral at 11: 00-11: 45 am. A memorial near the grave will be at the Thomas Ruffin Aycock Cemetery in Nahunta (Pikeville), North Carolina, later this week.
