Darrell Goodlow, a 37-year-old Indianapolis resident, was arrested on September 17 for a series of alleged sexual assaults spanning several months in Indianapolis and Lawrence.

Goodlow is charged with at least six residential sexual assaults involving eight victims dating from August 2020. According to a press release from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, investigators believe Goodlow targeted a vulnerable woman aged 58 to 77 years. At least once, he is said to have entered a house under the pretext of being a public service employee.

The press release also stated that it was likely that Goodlow disguised himself before and during each alleged attack by changing his voice and covering his face. During several alleged attacks, Goodlaw was allegedly armed with a knife and physically immobilized his victims.

The Lawrence Police Department was involved in the investigation after Goodlow allegedly attacked a Lawrence woman in February. Lawrence’s investigators coordinated their efforts with Season of Justice, a nonprofit that funded the use of sophisticated genealogical DNA testing as part of this investigation. This work was in progress when the breakdown leading to the identity of the suspect occurred.
A fingerprint was discovered after a September 8 attack on the east side of Indianapolis. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the fingerprint came from Goodlow, who was arrested on September 17.
“It made sense for the agencies investigating these incidents to collaborate,” said LPD deputy chief Gary Woodruff. “We do it regularly. Crime knows no borders, so neither should we. ”

LPD also praised the bravery of the victims in reporting the attacks, which led to the arrest.
“The Lawrence Police Department joins with the IMPD in recognizing the bravery and courage of each survivor who endured these attacks, and in the hope that this arrest will aid the healing process,” said the head of the LPD , David Hofmann.

Goodlow is being held at the Marion County Jail. He was charged with rape, bodily harm, kidnapping, murder of a domestic animal, burglary and other counts.

Anyone with information regarding any of the cases can call the IMPD Sex Crimes Office at 317-327-3330 or call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS to remain anonymous.
