Men’s football to host NCAA first and second round games

LEXINGTON, Va .– The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its 2021 Division III men’s soccer tournament ground on Monday afternoon, and the Washington and Lee men’s soccer team have been selected to host the first and second tours this weekend.

The Generals face Baruch in the first round at Watt Field on Friday at 2:00 p.m. ET. The other first round competition to be played at W&L will be between Denison and Covenant at 5:00 p.m.

W&L are 14-1-2 overall this season and have won an all-round offer for the Division III championship after losing 3-2 in overtime to Randolph in the ODAC semifinals. The Generals will make their sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. The Bearcats are 7-6-1 overall this season and won the CUNYAC title on Saturday in a shootout against Lehman, after 110 minutes of action resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Denison is 12-4-2 overall and received the NCAC’s automatic offer after defeating No.14 Kenyon, 1-0, in the conference championship game. Covenant is 11-3-4 overall and got an automatic offer after winning the Southern United States Championship on penalties against NC Wesleyan.

The Generals and the Bearcats will face off for the first time. The Big Red and the Scots have also never faced each other before this weekend’s game.

Live statistics and live video will be provided for all three games at Watt Field. The winners of Friday’s matches will advance to the second round and play Saturday at W&L at 4:30 p.m.
