The 2020-21 sports season was different.

There weren’t a lot of fans.

Only one home football match has been played.

The basketball seasons started late, football and volleyball were in the spring.

At the end of it all, ASU hosted two NCAA Championships over 14 days where the mask was optional and entry was free.

All of this happened when the hockey team never played a home game.

While the number of fans and visiting teams was understandably down from last year, there was still plenty of action on or near campus.

Here’s a look at how many sports and events Arizona State hosted last year, along with a schedule of each home event that Sun Devil has helped manage and produce.

0: This is the number of hockey games organized in 2020-2021. Things are back to normal in 2021-22.

2: The wrestling team has only hosted two games in 2020-21, but this season they are hosting the Pac-12 Championships on the first weekend in March.

6: Pac-12 Coach of the Year Tim mccormack led the lacrosse team to a 6-2 record at home.

16: The Sun Devil Men’s Golf Program hosted 16 schools at its 48th Thunderbird Collegiate on April 16-17, 2021, at the Papago Golf Course. The Pac-12 members Arizona, Oregon State, UCLA and Utah were there with Baylor, Colorado State, Iowa State, Long Beach State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, South Florida, Texas Tech, TCU and UNLV complete the field of 17 teams.

25: Tennis programs have hosted 25 home games, men have hosted 14 and women 11.

33: Baseball has hosted 33 games and went 22-11 and Ethan Long hit a bunch of bombs (nine in nine games at one point).

302: More than 300 student-athletes competed in the Grayhawk Golf Course from May 20 to June 2 for the NCAA Championships, and those same championships will be held in 2022 and 2023.

10 140: Everyone knows that 2020-21 has hit the Sun Devil men’s basketball program hard in terms of momentum. In addition to a third consecutive NCAA tournament participation canceled in 2020 – which would have been a first for the program since the early 1960s – the Sun Devil had crossed the attendance mark. Desert Financial Arena averaged 10,140 fans over the past three years as of the 2017-18 season, with 496,872 fans attending 49 Sun Devil home games, as ASU posted a record 39-10 . In the previous three seasons in 51 home games, ASU averaged 6,087 fans (310,459).
