This LEGO-inspired modular planter enhances vertical farming for gardening in tiny living spaces!
In recent years, more and more people have tried gardening and harvested their own vegetables for cooking and eating. Although many designs of planters have been created specifically for small living spaces, many of them maintain a fairly small size, not allowing too many plants to grow at one time. Lorenzo Vega, a designer based in Chile, has devised his own take on a modular planter and relies on a modular structure inspired by LEGO building blocks so that the vertical farm can always increase in size if your space allows.
The modular planter from Vega was designed to be a solution for vertical farming in small living spaces. Starting with a single modular cube, the seeds can be planted and harvested using traditional planting methods, then another module can be positioned above the first cube, forming a link to add additional planters. Each modular planter comes in the form of a dish with a cubic case that allows crops and plants to grow and reach their full height. Inspired by the appearance and durability of Japanese metabolism and the architecture of social modernism, Lorenzo Vega conceptualized his vertical farmhouse to be uncluttered and clean by design. The sleek and simple finish of Vega’s modular planter echoes its intuitive usability and modular customization.

Taking full advantage of the height in a given room opens up the space to many other interior design possibilities and provides access to hard-to-reach areas of the apartment that would otherwise go unused.
