Video appears to show man forcing woman into car in Bell Gardens

BELL GARDENS, Calif. (KABC) – The Bell Gardens Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying two people after video showed a male bear hugging a woman and appearing to force her back into a car before s ‘remove.

Police said the video showed the woman exiting a stopped vehicle on a residential street and then running away, while the man wearing a hooded sweatshirt chases her after also exiting the same car. He grabs her by the waist, then pulls her back into a silver-colored two-door car and drives off.

“The man put the woman back in the vehicle and closed the door. The man walked around the back of the vehicle and you see his driver’s door open slightly and then close indicating another person in the vehicle, or, the woman opened the door for him, “said a press release from the police department.

“The unknown man then entered the driver’s side of the vehicle and traveled south in reverse out of sight,” the statement said.

Before the man caught the woman, it looked like she was trying to run away.

The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday in the 6500 block of Toler Avenue and the home surveillance footage came from a neighbor, police said.

Police say the vehicle involved may have been a Honda S2000.

BGPD says it is not known if a crime has taken place and that it is contacting the public to help identify the two people and the vehicle involved.

Police were first alerted to the video on Sunday around 10 p.m. by the neighbor.
