PREGAME REPORT: Bedford (2-3) to Shaw (2-3)

On Tuesday, the Browns, with first-round draft pick Greg Newsome, celebrated the 10th completion of the artificial turf field at Shaw High School. Prior to the field revitalization, it was the home of the Cleveland Rams in 1938, where the team trained and played. But, this Friday, the Shaw Cardinals will officially call him when they face the Bedford Bearcats, as High School Game of the Week, presented by Ohio Cat in association with Medliminal.

Shaw is led by junior quarterback Malik Cansler, who averages 100 passing yards per game. His counterpart, senior quarterback Raymell Hester averages 165 passing yards per game for the Bearcats. On the other hand, Shaw’s defense is led by linebacker Davyon Johnson, who has put an end to opposing attacks all season. Johnson is averaging eight tackles per game and is looking to keep that same energy going into tomorrow night’s game. While linebacker Caleb Hunter will have Shaw’s offense locked down. Hunter comes into the game averaging 6 tackles per game and will face Johnson.

As Newsome said at the pitch open on Tuesday, “You never know when it’s your last game, and you never know when it’s your last day.”

Both teams are looking to move up to 3-3, with Shaw looking for their first conference win.
