Henry’s Community Gardens Hosts Registration Event Feb. 24 – Henry County Times

Community Gardens of Henry, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2003 whose mission is to promote community well-being by providing gardening opportunities and a healthy source of food to Henry residents of all ages. President George Jeburk and the Board of Directors have planned a strong community gardening program for Henry County residents that includes gardening classes, field trips, and gardening events. Chairman Jeburk remarked that “we look forward to bringing this wholesome outdoor program to the residents of our county, especially as we continue to deal with the effects of Covid and rising inflation, which increase the cost of fresh and healthy food for our tables”.

Jeburk also noted that “we also have planted row gardens where we grow vegetables to donate to food banks and other charities in Henry County. These gardens are operated by our non-profit association and its volunteer partners. We were especially happy this year when we grew, harvested and donated over 3,500 pounds. of produce from our garden planted in a row at Wesley Way to help feed those in need in our county, and since our start in 2003 we have donated over £115,000. of local dress vegetables.
