Palm Beach Gardens GreenMarket turns 20

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla .– The Palm Beach Gardens GreenMarket celebrated its 20th anniversary on Saturday.

The event officially started at 8pm, but the anniversary ceremonies kicked off with live music from local band “Spred the Dub” at 9am.

The GreenMarket had a little something for everyone.

The children received Make-n-Take garden projects to learn how to grow their own plants.

There will also be outdoor painting classes for all skill levels, but you had to pre-register.

After 20 years, the GreenMarket is home to over 120 vendors who rely on community support.

“It’s the biggest thing in the world without the small businesses, I mean, what do we really have with what’s going on these days? I think it’s all happening online and ordering with Amazon, so for as you go out and actually support these vendors that come out every morning, you see it’s 5:00 am right now and there are already 20 vendors setting up, ”said Jeffrey Etnoyer, owner of Produce Buddies.

The event is sponsored by the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, so staff were on hand to do free blood pressure tests.

“I think the most important thing when you meet clients is that one-on-one experience, you know they come back every week – you see them mostly here in this market, we could see the same people every week. 9 out of 10 of our customers are repeat customers who have been calling for 8-10 years now so this is a very, very good thing, especially seeing the same people every week mostly for the holidays they will even bring you cookies or a card, Etnoyer said.

Guests also received free tote bags, oven mitts and gift cards throughout the day, while supplies last.

The event took place rain or shine and asked people to leave their pets at home.
