Christian County Pantry seeks volunteers ahead of vacation

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Missouri – A Christian County pantry asks the community for volunteers to meet the needs of the local community.

The Least of These pantry says the need for volunteers is high ahead of the holiday season.

“As the holidays quickly approach, we expect to see more families in need of assistance than we have ever seen before in Christian County,” said Kristy Carter, Executive Director. “On average, we have 8 new families calling every day to ask for food assistance. “

The organization needs around 35-40 volunteers to organize a food distribution, but has only 5 staff, making serving the communities a difficult task.

“Right now it’s very difficult to function properly because our current volunteers are struggling to keep up with requests,” Carter said.

Volunteers are needed to distribute food on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, as well as the arrival days of trucks.
