“Temperatures will be well into the low 20s, feeling warmer in the sun, although temperatures will drop rapidly in the evening.

“The main source of uncertainty for the weekend itself relates to the distance at which a plume of hot air, currently across the continent, is encroaching on southern parts of the UK from Friday evening .

“The latest outlook suggests that this warm air plume could bring a flurry of showers to southern areas Friday night and early Saturday, with a few showers for a while on Saturday.

“Further showers are likely for southern areas on Sunday, possibly a few heavy ones, most likely at this stage for the far south east.

“Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England appear to experience the driest conditions from Friday, most likely benefiting from prolonged periods of sunshine.”
