Now the Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is offering free Skystar Wheel tickets, Clipper cards, zoo and museum tickets, and free food at family immunization parties the next three weekends. .

OK, so this is not the million dollar vaccination lottery they are offering the people of Ohio to get the COVID-19 vaccine. And these weren’t even the Levi’s Stadium teen vaccination nights, as those nights had exclusive visits to the 49ers’ locker rooms. But SFDPH is entering the “give people free stuff” phase of the vaccine rollout, starting today with a series of free family immunization events with food, music and a respectable gallery of prizes for. get more people talking, and everyone ages 12 years and over, to finally get their vaccine.

We’ll get right to the point and detail what the free prizes are. “Prizes include free tickets to the SkyStar Wheel at Golden Gate Park, courtesy of the Parks and Recreation Department,” according to a press release retrieved by FunCheap. Other free giveaways to be won include “Preloaded Clipper Cards provided by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, free admission to SF Zoo, SFMOMA memberships, San Francisco Fine Arts Museums, SF Botanical Garden and more. “

Not many details on the food situation, the DPH announcements for all events simply say, “Join us for free food, entertainment, and freebies with your free COVID-19 vaccine.” Welcome drop-ins! Anyone is 12 years old and can get the shot, and you don’t have to have a family in tow to attend or get the shot. But free injections, food, and gifts are only meant for unvaccinated people.

Recipients will receive the Pfizer vaccine and will need to schedule a second follow-up vaccine.

The first of these events takes place today, and the free vaccine family events continue as scheduled for the next three weekends with the following dates, times and locations:

  • Friday May 21, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m .: Friday Festival at SF Market, 901 Rankin Street

  • Saturday, June 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m .: Bayview Family Event, Southeast Health Center, 2401 Keith Street

As San Francisco celebrates the administration of its millionth vaccine, it’s worth stopping to appreciate how lucky we are that everyone who wanted a vaccination had had one. Now we are throwing Ferris wheel tickets to people to get them to get vaccinated. When the open season kicked off on April 15, we were concerned that only the most obsessive MyTurn page refreshers would be able to take the photo. Now it turns out that the hardest part is just chasing the last laggards, and if Ferris wheels and meals are the right incentives for this task, then the DPH will give a chance.
